Tipping Point

August 28, 2010

Hey guys! We’re on the road to design and build a primary school for the village of Kyekyewere, Ghana!

To give you a little background, this is the village I visited with Habitat for Humanity in January. While in Ghana, village representatives expressed a need for a primary school, and I became interested in involving UNCG Interior Architecture (my program at UNCG.) This effort has since resulted in a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Ghana and the opportunity to make the school a reality.

Currently, students and faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro are compiling research to design the school, with a focus on improving methods of construction and preservation of traditions trough design and architecture. Through research and community involvement, we aspire to impact the future of village children through expanded educational opportunities.
